Henderson County Foster Parent Association is a non-profity 501(c) (3) organization and classified as a public charity. Your donation to HCFPA helps provide foster care and adoptive services that are critical to providing children with the education, stability, skills, and support they need to succeed in the world.  While the number of youth in foster care has continued to increase, there has been a decrease in the number of licensed foster parents, placing additional stress on existing parents who require additional support and resources. Your decision to support children in foster care by way of donations is a decision that will change their lives for the better.  Help support better futures and permanency for our children.

Foster families are trained, and licensed to care for abused and neglected children temporarily, while their parents work with social work professionals to resolve their family issues. Relatives may be licensed as foster parents

Foster parents must:

  • Be at least 21 years old

  • Have a stable home and income

  • Be willing to be finger printed and have a criminal records check

  • Maintain a drug free environment

  • Complete all required training and be licensed by the state of North Carolina
